Electric Vehicle Professional Technical Certificate of Credit

The Electric Vehicle Professional Technical Certificate of Credit was designed in conjunction with Hyundai subject matter experts to provide students with the knowledge and skill to prepare them for entry level employment in the electrical vehicle production industry.  Emphasis is placed on safe and effective automotive shop operations, automotive electrical principles, and operation and service procedures for EV and Hybrid vehicles. 

Students are accepted into the Electric Vehicle Professional certificate program any semester. A full-time student can complete this program in 1 semester. To graduate, students must earn a minimum of 8 semester credit hours.

Career Traits/Requirements

Individuals wanting to enroll in the Electric Vehicle Professional certificate program must have good eyesight, manual dexterity, hand eye coordination, critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, math skills, and the ability to apply technology to the work environment.  They would have the skill set to work in sub-assembly shops building up components and on the floor of production facilities to put the sub-assembly together to manufacture the electric vehicle.  

Employment Opportunities

This certificate prepares the student to enter into the electrical vehicle production industry with basic knowledge.

Admission Requirements

OFTC may accept a student’s official entrance score on the following validated assessment instruments if the scores meet the required minimums:

  • COMPASS/ASSET,
  • SAT,
  • ACT,
  • PSAT,
  • PACT,
  • Accuplacer/Accuplacer Next Generation/Companion,
  • HOPE GPA after completion of 10th grade of 2.6 or higher, or High School GPA of 2.6 (for occupational programs), or 2.0 for Workforce Entry Level programs, or GED.

The College may accept transfer credit for other courses according to the College’s transfer policy.
