Diesel Equipment HVAC and Maintenance Technician Technical Certificate of Credit
The Diesel Equipment HVAC and Maintenance Technician certificate program introduces systems used in medium/heavy-duty trucks and heavy equipment. Classroom instruction on HVAC theory and operation along with local, state, and federal regulations are strong emphasized. Topics include: HVAC safety; HVAC system theory and operation; A/C system component diagnosis and repair; HVAC system diagnosis and repair; HVAC operating systems and related controls; and refrigeration recovery, recycling, and handling procedures. This program will also introduce preventative maintenance procedures pertaining to medium/heavy-duty trucks and heavy equipment. Topics include: engine systems maintenance; cab and hood inspections; electrical and electronics inspections; frame and chassis service and maintenance.
Students may enter the Diesel Equipment HVAC and Maintenance Technician program any semester. A full-time student can complete this program in 1 semester. To graduate, students must earn a minimum of 18 semester credit hours.

Admission Requirements
OFTC may accept a student’s official entrance score on the following validated assessment instruments if the scores meet the required minimums:
- COMPASS/ASSET,
- SAT,
- ACT,
- PSAT,
- PACT,
- Accuplacer/Accuplacer Next Generation/Companion,
- HOPE GPA after completion of 10th grade of 2.6 or higher, or High School GPA of 2.6 (for occupational programs), or 2.0 for Workforce Entry Level programs, or GED.
The College may accept transfer credit for other courses according to the College’s transfer policy.
